Nigeria Health Care Project registered charity No 1112932

The project was launched in April 1992 in order to revive the work of the Wesley Guild in medical mission, which began at Ilesha Hospital in 1912. From just two (centres) projects in 1992, we are currently involved in funding 18 projects. Working closely with the Methodist Church Nigeria, its Secretary of Conference and their medical advisers, the NHCP provides funding to new and established projects.
The NHCP closely monitors the health care communities it is supporting; by receiving regular reports from each of the individual projects and with biennial visits to Nigeria to gain first hand knowledge. This allows the trustees to assess the benefits of the projects being supported and determine their current and future requirements. NHCP Trustees held an ‘Away Day’ at Willersley Castle in March 2011 which reaffirmed the Project’s Aims and enabled Trustees to develop plans to take the Project forward over the next few years.
         How can Guilders support NHCP?

Arrange to borrow resources to share with your Guild eg PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, posters, laminated pictures etc. outlining the work in Nigeria.
Order merchandise to sell - cards, notelets, pens etc.
Join the Association of Friends.
Set up a local support group for the project.
Pray for members of the Christian Church, those of other faiths and all citizens of Nigeria.

Annual General Meeting of NHCP June 14th  2011

We had a theme of ‘Learning in Partnership’ with speakers from  Partnerships in Health Information (Phi), the Tropical Health and  Education Trust (THET) and The Amaudo Training Unit (TATU). We  learnt a lot about the work of these organisations. We hope to  work with them in the near future.

Next year’s AGM will be at 12 noon on Tuesday 12th June         2012 at Christ Church Halton Leeds LS15 7RW.

The theme  for next year  will be announced nearer the time.

If you are interested in attending, please contact the

Project Coordinator, David Cundall,  for further details at                                 nhcp@btinternet.com

Special Celebration in 2010
NHCP have recently realized the magnificent sum of £1million to provide and support health care /mental health care in rural Nigeria.
To celebrate this a Celebratory Thanksgiving Service was held at Wesley’s Chapel in London on 19th June:
His Eminence Dr. Sunday Makinde, Prelate of Methodist Church Nigera, gave an address. The preacher was The Lord Dr Leslie Griffiths. The chairman was Dr Richard Vautrey (Vice–President of Conference, long time member of the NHCP Committee and an ex-Mission Partner in Nigeria). The London Nigeria Fellowship Choir further helped to make this a joyous celebration.
